CHARIS
Hi, I’m so happy you’re here.
I'm Charis and I was born in 1988 in the Dutch artists' village of Bergen, and now live in a little house by the river in Rotterdam with my wonderful (almost) husband and our sweet baby boy named Toms.
Before weddings became my world, I worked in the fashion industry—traveling from New York to Paris and beyond. That time shaped my eye for beauty, detail, and emotion—something I now bring into every love story I get to capture. After graduating from the Photography Academy in 2017, one of the very first weddings I photographed was immediately featured in Italian VOGUE and The LANE, propelling my career.
Today, I lead a small, passionate team of four, and our work is recognized and published around the world. But for me, it’s never about perfection—it’s about personality. I love bringing in bold pops of color and just the right amount of rock and roll. A little edge, a little soul—something real, instead of overly picture-perfect.
On your wedding day, I want to feel more like a friend—just one with a camera in hand. Someone you can trust to be calm, creative, and completely tuned in. I’ll fix your dress, offer gentle direction, and capture the big feelings and the quiet, in-between moments too.
We create photos that feel real—timeless, modern, elegant, and full of emotion. With a love for storytelling and an eye for beauty, we’re here to capture your day just as it felt: full of love, joy, and all the little things you’ll want to remember forever.
I hope to meet you soon,
These photos hold a little bit of everything I love.
My fiancé and our baby Toms—my heart in human form. Our dog Happy Camper, never far behind. A peek at an editorial, with my work on the cover and featured inside—always a huge honor and a little surreal. Moments from Uluwatu, Bali, where we work remotely during the off-season, surf, slow down, and where I remotely design your wedding albums dreaming, selecting, and turning your story into something beautifully tangible.
When we’re not working or exploring new places, you’ll find us cooking, watching romantic movies, or sharing a glass of wine once the baby’s asleep.

When we first met her (over Zoom!), we immediately were taken with her warm, laidback energy. We knew it would be a blast to have her there on our special weekend, because honestly we wanted to hang out with her!
